TAX TIPS FOR RETIRED TEACHERS:

Under “medical Expenses” (line 330 in last year’s form) you CAN claim:

Blue Cross Extended Health premiums

Blue Cross Dental Premiums

Johnson Travel Medical Premiums (75% of monthly cost – the rest is trip cancellation insurance)

Johnson long Term Care insurance premiums

The balance of all medical costs after deducting Blue Cross rebates

The balance of all dental costs after deducting Blue Cross rebates

The cost of long distance travel to medical appointments (over 40 kms) – 51 cents per kilometre    

You CANNOT claim MSP premiums.

Remember to save your receipts in case they are needed in future.
